INTCO Recycling Helps Dutch Fishmonger Achieve the Recycling of EPS Fish Boxes

EPS is widely used, among which EPS used for cold chain seafood preservation and transportation accounts for a large proportion of the total usage. European fishery is developed, so the European fish box market is the largest EPS packaging application market in Europe.

Visco Visgroothandel is a fishmonger based on the Island of URK in the Netherlands, specialized in the supply and processing of fresh fish into Ready-to-use products in the kitchen and also a total supplier specialized in Sushi. EPS boxes are essential packaging tools for preserving fresh fish and transporting fish products to customers. Over time, VISCO accumulated a large collection of EPS fish boxes.

VISCO had always paid specialized recyclers to dispose of discarded EPS fish boxes. Over time, some problems began to surface. Not only does it cost a high processing fee, but VISCO also faces the situation that the recycler did not come to deal with EPS fish boxes in time. The smelly fish boxes were piled up in the factory for a long time, which not only seriously affected the good image of the food processing factory but may even cause safety hazards such as fire. Therefore, VISCO had been trying to find new ways of dealing with these problems.

In 2016, VISCO contacted INTCO Recycling and learned that the GREENMAX EPS compactor produced by INTCO can reduce the volume of fish boxes, and INTCO will also purchase compressed blocks to make environmentally friendly photo frames. Fish box recycling is a new idea for VISCO, and it coincides with their needs. Therefore, VISCO decisively purchased a GREENMAX EPS compactor and started the fish box recycling project. In the past 6 years, GREENMAX EPS compactor has not only restored the cleanliness and hygiene of their factories, but also saved a lot of waste disposal costs. At the same time, they have also made considerable profits by selling the compressed EPS blocks back to INTCO Recycling.

Since 2016, VISCO has become more and more aware of the economic and social significance of EPS recycling. The fish box recycling carried out by VISCO also makes a great contribution to the local environment and recycling business. They now not only process their own fish boxes through GREENMAX EPS compactor, but also provide free EPS recycling services to other residents who are troubled by EPS waste. So far, VISCO has purchased 4 GREENMAX EPS compactors, their manager Cornelis said: "We will continue to help more people in EPS recycling in the future. This is a great cause, and we will continue it".
