Foam compactor helps Poliembalajes achieve recycling and contribute to the recycling industry chain in Europe

Poliembalajes is a Spanish EPE and EPS foam packaging manufacturer. The EPE foam waste volume is 1 ton per month and the EPS foam waste volume is more than 10 cubic meters per month. Before using the foam compactor, their waste foam had been taken away free of charge by the manufacturer Sealedair's empty truck after each delivery. Occasionally, they had to pay a local recycler to take it away.

As an upstream supplier to Poliembalajes, the person in charge of Sealedair approached INTCO Recycling to consult on machines for recycling and processing EPE foam. Sealedair hopes to effectively help downstream customers carry out foam recycling business, and will bid to buy back this part of the recycled materials and add them to new products to promote the recycling industry chain of EPE foam in Europe.

The successful implementation of foam recycling can be said to be a win-win project, not only beneficial to the upstream supplier Sealedair, but also to the downstream Poliembalajes. If Sealedair can provide the service of purchasing compressed foam in the future, it will win the favor of more downstream customers because of its complete business model. With the help of foam recycling, Poliembalajes will be able to recycle EPS and EPE foam at the same time, easily cope with messy sites, and reduce the hidden dangers caused by random discarding of foam waste. In addition, EPS foam and EPE foam, as 100% recyclable materials, can also bring additional profits to the company.

After understanding the needs of both parties, INTCO Recycling recommended the Zeus series foam compactor to the customer. Different from conventional foam cold presses, this equipment can not only crush and compress, but also has a hot-melt ring at the outlet that is melted through the surface to compress and reduce the volume of EPE foam. It can be compressed after stopping the heating function. EPS foam waste can be used in one machine for two purposes. In order to ensure that the guest's foam is recyclable non-cross-linked EPE foam, engineers and sales teams specially visited the customers' homes to provide recycling suggestions and guidance on site. Separate management of post-production waste is very necessary for product production, and customers also understand this. One month after the visit, the customer chose to purchase a Zeus series foam compactor Z-C200.

The following year, after the customer's machine was successfully used for a year, the INTCO Recycling team visited again and provided guidance. Poliembalajes has opened an independent recycling workshop to separate the stacking of loose materials, compressed materials and foam compactor. The operating space is particularly clean. We connected with engineers on site and performed a complete overhaul of the machine. According to the customer's needs, we have re-adjusted some parameters for the customer to meet the cutting length required by the customer. The operator reported that the machine is easy to operate and the material output is stable. Customers can focus on processing 2-3 days a week and are very satisfied with the machine. The foam compactor contributes to the recycling of waste materials and overall foam recycling.
