Introduction of Waste Plastics Crushing Processes

In the waste plastic foam recycling process, waste foam crushing is one of the most important processes, the volume of waste foam is reduced, which is convenient for subsequent processing. Foam crusher is a common facility to be used to crush plastic foam, such as EPS foam, XPS, EPP.

 

The waste plastic foam crushing process varies due to corresponding materials while different plastic foam materials have their own characteristics.
1. EPS(foam#6)/XPS
EPS and XPS belong to large lump material. Once crushed, waste EPS/XPS can be easily broken into small pieces. The basic principle of the process is to destroy the material's integrity depend on the shear strength and the impact strength. For this fragile brittle material, an EPS shredding machine is the best choice.

 

2. PE foam
PE foam pertains to soft small, broken material. The process of handling it has no difference with other foam materials. The only thing should be taken note of is to use low-temperature crushing because PE foam is elastic and soft. 

 

3. EPP foam
For ductile foam like EPP, shear-type foam crushing equipment is the most suitable one because EPP is easy to be affected by outside compression, bending impact, and other forces.

In addition, the extent of crushing equipment should be taken into account according to the needs. If crushing the large pieces into small pieces, using compression, impact, or cutting equipment; if putting small pieces into a fine powder, choosing abrasive grinding equipment.
