Moire shire council replaces old machine with Polystyrene densifier for more efficient Polystyrene recycling

Moira Shire Council is a Local Government Area in the Northern Victoria Region of Victoria, Australia. Located in the north-east part of the state. Including several towns including Cobram. The area actively organizes polystyrene recycling activities to help solve white pollution and effectively deal with the polystyrene household waste generated by residents in their daily lives. However, some problems were encountered during the recycling process.

Moire shire council started recycling polystyrene about 8-9 years ago and has set up two recycling points. At these two designated locations, residents can discard accumulated polystyrene foam waste. From the beginning, the region realized that if it wanted to recycle polystyrene, it would need to use a machine appropriately. The machine purchased at the beginning is a piece of equipment that uses cold pressing technology. The compression ratio is 40:1. Because the compression ratio is very low, the density of the compressed block produced is about 150-200kg. Since Moira Shire Council is far away from Melbourne’s CBD 250km, the freight is very expensive, and the density of compressed polystyrene foam is too low, making it not worth transporting the compressed material for sale. So for a lot of time Moira didn't know what to do with these low-density polystyrene compression blocks.

In 2020, GREENMAX began to contact Moira. After learning about the current situation, they recommended the GREENMAX polystyrene densifier solution to them. The GREENMAX brand is the world's top supplier of polystyrene recycling machine and is a machinery brand under INTCO Recycling, has currently designed and manufactured 1,200 polystyrene recycling machines to supply the global market, especially the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Oceania.Due to 20 years of intensive work in this industry, GREENMAX knows the different properties of different foams. For example, some waste polystyrene have high density, some have low density, some have high water content, and some contain other substances. Only by taking all these factors into consideration can you choose the most suitable recycling equipment.

According to the different needs of customers, GREENMAX engineer team designs and creates a variety of solutions. The polystyrene produced by Moira Shire Council is conventional polystyrene waste, which can be processed by the general GREENMAX polystyrene densifier. Considering the actual situation on site and budget issues, Moire Shire Council purchased the GREENMAX polystyrene densifier M-C50 in 2023. This equipment adds a timer and exhaust system on the original basis to meet the customized needs of customers.

Through further understanding, Moira is more confident to do a good job in polystyrene recycling, and even plans to extend this service to other places. GREENMAX will also help more partners achieve more professional recycling!
