At present, there are 5.8 million tons of waste polystyrene producing all around the world. Only China produces about 1.8 million tons per year. Except a few of development countries, other countries haven't been well recycling the waste PS foam materials.

According to the incomplete statistics, the Nordic countries and Japan PS foamed plastics recycling utilization rate is 72%, South Korea PS foamed plastics recycling utilization rate is 64%. However, other countries PS foamed plastics recycling utilization rate is only 10%-30%.

In our Country, because of the recovery mechanism is not perfect enough, 70% of the polystyrene is buried or burned, only 30% of them has been recycled. Most of the waste Styrofoam material has not been recovery and utilization effectively. It caused serious environmental pollution, severe resource crisis and environmental pollution. So we must increase the recycling and reusing of resources.
