A Sustainable Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner. GREENMAX wishes you a happy holiday, but also reminds you to properly handle the gifts with EPS packaging received during the holidays.

The city of Toledo, Ohio will organize two holiday recycling events on the afternoons of January 9 and January 21, accepting artificial Christmas trees, light strings and #6 polystyrene foam. The event location is located at Lott Industries, 3350 Hill Ave, Toledo, OH 43607. The drop-off point for foam recycling is on the west side of the building.

The Styrofoam recycling event was jointly organized by Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful and Lott Industries to provide Lucas County residents with an easy and responsible way to dispose of Christmas-related items that cannot be recycled at the curb, including Styrofoam packaging for Christmas gifts.

By working with professional recyclers, these Christmas foam packaging will be processed into new products, not only diverting Styrofoam from landfills, but also achieving resource reuse. This Styrofoam recycling is not only to collect foam packaging that residents cannot dispose of, but also to transform it into compacted foam blocks and PS particles, which are raw materials for making environmentally friendly products.

The collected Christmas foam packaging can be sold to downstream recycling companies, where there are generally foam reduction equipment to compress Styrofoam. The compressed foam blocks will also be sold to companies with foam pelletizers, or re-granulated by themselves.

Foam pelletizer is a device that processes foam waste or compressed foam blocks into recycled particles. It is an essential part of the foam recycling solution. After entering the hopper, the Christmas Styrofoam packaging will be broken into uniform small pieces and fed into the screw extruder. The screw melts the foam in this Styrofoam recycling machine through continuous rotation and heating.

During the melting process, the gas in the foam is removed. The heating temperature is usually adjusted according to the type and density of the material and will affect the quality of the PS particles. GREENMAX has provided customized Styrofoam recycling solutions to thousands of customers around the world, so it has enough practical experience to provide customers with personal guidance and produce high-quality PS particles.

The molten foam is extruded into strips and cooled by the cooling water tank of the foam pelletizer to form solid plastic strips. The cooled plastic strips are cut into uniform-sized particles by the pelletizer, which are reusable PS particles. In conjunction with various processes such as injection molding and extrusion, PS particles will be reprocessed into outdoor flooring, sound-absorbing wall panels, photo frames and other products.

From compression, granulation to recycling, GREENMAX has formed a closed-loop Styrofoam recycling economic system, and can provide you with professional foam recycling machines, including Styrofoam compactors and foam pelletizers, etc. And we can provide you with PS particle sales solutions to help you complete one-stop foam recycling.
