Construction Industry Aims to Use Large Amounts of Recycled EPS Materials

The construction industry produces and imports tens of thousands of tons of plastic pellets every year for use in insulation. Meanwhile, a third of the insulation is incinerated. Birgit Risholt leads the Circular EPS project, which aims to recycle EPS insulation materials in the construction industry.

To prevent large amounts of plastic waste from being incinerated or ending up in landfills, reuse and recycling systems for construction materials need to be developed. This will also lead to better management of natural resources, reduced environmental damage and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Now, the entire industry is involved in EPS recycling. Project owner BEWI (formerly Jackon) is one of the companies providing building systems and insulation solutions to the construction industry. Now, they aim to use 50% recycled material in EPS production.

Essentially, EPS is fully recyclable and ideal for recycling. In many cases, insulation materials outlast the life of the building they are used in. Recycled EPS can be used in new insulation applications or used to make new products. INTCO Recycling is a foam recycler and one of the largest end users. We have mature production lines and production technologies that can transform waste foam into foam particles through processes such as cleaning, compression, crushing and granulation. EPS foam particles are the raw material for making recycled products. INTCO will make these particles into environmentally friendly frames, such as picture frames, floors and skirting boards, and sell them all over the world. Therefore, INTCO Recycling provides EPS buyback services to global customers at a very favorable price.

In addition, INTCO Recycling has developed high-quality GREENMAX EPS foam recycling machines to provide better foam recycling services, including foam crushers, foam compressors, and granulators. We provide customers with customized services for GREENMAX machines and design the most suitable waste foam recycling solution based on their needs. The design plan includes waste EPS classification, cleaning, crushing, melting, granulation and other process flows, as well as equipment selection and layout.

From EPS waste to recycled products, INTCO Recycling realizes the recycling and reuse of foam, demonstrating the circular economy model of foam. In any aspect of foam recycling, INTCO can provide you with professional services and answers.
