Gilford Installed A Styrofoam Recycling Unit: A Positive Sign

Recently in Gilford, a Styrofoam recycling unit was installed at a local recycling center. As the first Styrofoam recycling unit in northern New England, it means New England's innovation in recycling. Waste Styrofoam disposal has always been a thorny issue for municipal waste management centers, and the good start now in Gilford is a positive sign.

According to Meghan Theriault, director of public works at Gilford, she has always wanted Styrofoam recycling to work in Gilford. Modern life has brought many conveniences, and at the same time, the number of abandoned Styrofoam has continued to explode. But the space in the landfill is limited, and the waste of Styrofoam is difficult to biodegrade and will only occupy the space of the landfill. After a lot of research, Meghan found that Styrofoam recycling was a good opportunity. Styrofoam recycling not only solves the dilemma faced by landfills but also brings new life to waste Styrofoam. Having made up his mind to start the Styrofoam recycling project, he has been raising donations. After winning a $50,000 grant, Theriault used the donation to purchase a Styrofoam recycling machine and immediately launched a recycling program.

Now residents don't have to throw Styrofoam in the trash. Every once in a while, they can take the Styrofoam waste to a recycling center for on-site processing. Treated Styrofoam is a recycled plastic raw material that can be sold to manufacturers and recyclers. This revenue will in turn be used to run the recycling center. This forms a virtuous Styrofoam cycle. Theriault added that their next plan is to add a few more Styrofoam recycling machines to different recycling centers so that the community can send the collected waste Styrofoam to any recycling center for processing. In order to expand the scope and influence of Styrofoam recycling, many Styrofoam collection boxes have been installed in different communities. Theriault is also applying for additional grants and has paid for Styrofoam recycling equipment to enable Styrofoam recycling to proceed smoothly in areas other than Gilford.

It is not difficult to find that when it comes to Styrofoam recycling, people's reactions are no longer doubts and distrust.
