Green Team of Norman, Oklahoma Recycle Styrofoam through A Densifier
With greater publicity and the rapid growth of the global recycling industry, the Styrofoam recycling concept spread from the country to the company, and then to cities and communities. Those communities that started Styrofoam recycling first have expanded their recycling efforts and scope over the past two years, aiming to recycle more Styrofoam. In May of '21, a donation from the national Foam Recycling Coalition was requested by a member of Oklahoma's Green Recycling team to purchase a Styrofoam densifier. With the addition of the Styrofoam densifier, the recycling of Styrofoam in the ULCSC parish and the city became more successful.
The Green Team was formed in 2016, and voluntarily organized by local residents and parishioners to consciously undertake a wide variety of recycling activities. Styrofoam is commonly used to make egg cartons, to-go cups, clamshell containers, meat trays, coolers, and packaging materials. Used Styrofoam often ends up in landfills, where it can take up to 500 years to break down and pollute the environment. But Styrofoam can be recycled and reused. Knowing the nature of Styrofoam, the Green Team set up a room in the University Lutheran Church building to collect waste Styrofoam. After installing the Styrofoam densifier purchased in 2021, the Green Team found recycling easier with the machine.
Why saying this? Because of the Styrofoam's large size, as more people in the community actively recycled Styrofoam, rooms were easily filled. Transporting Styrofoam to a recycler requires large trucks, which can add up to a hefty shipping cost. However, the Styrofoam densifier is a machine designed to recycle waste Styrofoam, which is reduced to one-fiftieth of its original volume through a process such as shredding and hot melting. What's more, the compressed Styrofoam, called ingots, can be sold to recyclers at a higher market price, and shipping costs are reduced as the size becomes smaller. Meanwhile, the intuitive operation process of the machine lets more people know about Styrofoam recycling, which is conducive to promoting the concept of recycling.
However, the machine bought by the Green team is not very easy to maintain, "a pin will break if the load gets too heavy." INTCO Recycling can provide the higher quality Styrofoam densifier, which is internationally certified, and has quality assurance. In addition, INTCO also provides after-sales service to guarantee the rights and interests of customers and can acquire ingots, which provides customers with a market for ingots.
