Nike Increases Recycled Plastic Content in Apparel

Sportswear giant Nike has announced its latest "Move to Zero" sustainability plan, further committing to significantly increase the proportion of recycled plastics used in the coming years.

According to a press release from Nike, the brand plans to increase the use of recycled plastics to 50% of its total raw material use by 2025. This goal includes recycling old products and materials to make new products, and Nike has also launched a series of shoes and apparel using recycled plastics.

Although Nike and other brands have made progress in using recycled plastics, they still face some challenges. First, supply chain management and cost control of recycled plastics are key factors. Currently, the quantity and quality of recycled plastics are unstable, which may affect production efficiency and product quality.

INTCO Recycling is one of the practitioners in the recycled plastics industry. We purchase plastic bottle bricks worldwide, recycle foam waste, and provide a full range of waste plastic recycling solutions for our customers. INTCO Recycling helps more industries and companies complete the transformation of plastic waste to recycled materials.

Through the plastic pelletizer, PET plastic bottles can be turned into high-purity and clean PET pellets, which can be made into environmentally friendly products such as clothing and food-grade packaging materials. First, the plastic bottles are fed into the feed port of the plastic pelletizer, where the heating device heats the plastic to a molten state. The extrusion system extrude the molten plastic into continuous strips. Finally, it passes through the cutting device and cooling system of the plastic recycling machine to become uniform PET pellets.

However, before the plastic pelletizer is used for pelletizing, plastic needs to go through compression, packaging and cleaning processes. The entire plastic recycling process is relatively complicated, but companies can choose to join one of the links, such as packaging, cleaning or pelletizing. And INTCO Recycling can provide corresponding plastic recycling solutions and various machines, such as plastic pelletizers and balers.

More brands are starting to use recycled materials, which also allows more companies like INTCO Recycling to see the hope of industry development. Plastics have never been a wrong invention. People used to hate such products because of the environmental problems caused by disposable plastics. From plastic balers to plastic pelletizers, and then to pellet recycled products, plastics are getting rid of the label of disposable.

Nike's plan to use recycled plastics marks the active efforts of international brands on the road to sustainable development. In today's global environmental challenges, the sustainable practice of brands is not only a manifestation of social responsibility, but also a necessary strategy for market competition.

As more and more companies join the ranks of sustainable development, future products will pay more attention to environmental protection, thus driving the industry towards a greener direction. INTCO Recycling hopes to achieve a truly sustainable future with various industries through continuous innovation and cooperation.
