Styrofoam is Carved into Flying DeLorean Car

A large CNC router has carved a full-size flying DeLorean out of Styrofoam.

This flying car project is still in its early stages, but the flying car is basically a giant quadcopter with motors and propellers hidden under the chassis. This means using a fairly lightweight material, namely expanded polystyrene foam. Large chunks of foam are then carved into variously shaped panels by a CNC router, creating a lot of foam dust and foam scraps. The finished model of the car weighs just 13.9 kilograms.

The project also required thrust testing of the engines and propellers, as well as a large amount of foam scraps and dust to be cleaned up. INTCO Recycling developed the GREENMAX Styrofoam densifiers to turn this foam waste into raw materials for recycled products. Styrofoam recycling compactors based on the cold-press principle are not able to handle these materials. GREENMAX densifier Mars series will heat the raw foam material into solid foam ingots with a unique hot melting technology. The gases generated during the heating process can be absorbed by an air filtration system and discharged, ensuring an environmentally friendly and pollution-free process. The waste Styrofoam dust will melt when heated and is subsequently extruded, cooled and molded. Through the heating and extrusion process, the foam powder is transformed into dense ingots and finally made into pellets. These foam pellets are the raw material for a variety of recycled plastic products that can be sold to manufacturers, turning foam waste into a profit.

INTCO Recycling offers an excellent method to dispose of waste Styrofoam dust using a hot melting densifier Mars series. INTCO is one of the largest end users of recycled foam. We provide foam buyback services to global customers at preferential prices to make environmentally friendly frame products, such as mirror frames, skirting boards, etc.

In addition, as an expert in the field of Styrofoam recycling, INTCO Recycling has been committed to global foam recycling and environmental protection. We are very happy to provide foam recycling solutions to every customer.
