The Union of Recycling and Aesthetics: Recycled EPS Panels Are Used to Make Relief Ceilings in Mexico
When looking at this creative and exquisite ceiling, will you think about its raw material being recycled EPS panels? The Local studio Monteon Arquitectos Asociados designed a relief ceiling for a restaurant in Guadalajara, Mexico, depicting a maze of ancient ruins. They obtained different patterns from the pictures of Casas Grandes and then used thermoforming to replicate the patterns on nine recycled EPS panels. Finally, they arrange EPS panels on the ceiling to form a substantially random pattern.
This creative design has exhibited a union of recycling concepts and industrial aesthetics. In people’s traditional view, EPS waste has no other destination, only landfills or incineration plants. Together with other EPS waste such as packaging, boxes, or containers, these wastes are always considered unrecyclable materials. But landfills cannot accept so much EPS waste longer because EPS is non-degradable which leads to too much EPS piling up. Incineration will cause severe air pollution. Therefore, people will never associate beautiful, exquisite, and clean EPS waste together.
But as you can see, this wonderful relief ceiling is made of recycled EPS waste. Waste EPS actually can be recycled and applied in many areas. For example, beautiful photo frames, household decoration frames, and skirting boards…these products are all made of waste EPS. There has been a relatively mature EPS recycling chain now. In a community, waste EPS will be collected together and then transported to a recycling center to process. In some EPS-related factories, waste EPS can be processed if there is an EPS compactor on the scene. Compressing through the EPS compactor is one of the most important steps. EPS compactor helps greatly reduce volume for better transporting and reprocessing. The compressed EPS blocks can be sold to those EPS recyclers at a satisfying price. For instance, INTCO Recycling is an EPS recycling expert which sells GREENMAX EPS compactor to customers and also buys back blocks to reprocess and reproduce.
It’s surprising that the EPS recycling industry has developed fast and well. These regenerated EPS products have changed many people’s traditional views about EPS waste. “Turning waste into wealth”, is what INTCO Recycling are keeping doing now.
