Upgrade and Expansion of Campus Foam Container Recycling Program
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has provided recycling services since 1990 and has recently expanded its waste management efforts through the use of Waste Wizard, which successfully enables recycling of all types of waste, including foam container recycling.
The school used Waste Wizard to upgrade its campus recycling program, which includes foam container recycling. Waste Wizard is a material-based search tool. Just enter the name of the material and the Waste Wizard will show you the correct disposal options for that waste, including recycling, composting, donation, state surplus sales and reuse. The school says that with the help of the Campus Waste Wizard, it is possible to keep updated on campus recycling services and find local companies that can recycle materials, as it recently did with foam container recycling.
Waste foam is professionally recycled and not only diverted from landfills, but can also be made into recycled products and entered into the market. Foam is the best choice for packaging containers for many high-value items. Its low price and superior performance make it widely used. However, in communities and schools, the accumulation and flooding of polystyrene has caused distress to many people, and it also poses safety risks. In order to clear available space and maintain cleanliness, they had to pay large disposal fees to dispose of foam containers in landfills. But now, this situation can be greatly changed through foam container recycling. INTCO Recycling is a professional polystyrene recycling company. A team of engineers developed the GREENMAX foam hydraulic compactor to enable foam container recycling to be carried out safely and pollution-free.
GREENMAX foam hydraulic compactor can compact foam into dense foam blocks at a ratio of 70:1, basically eliminating the impact of water content on the foam container recycling process. The working principle of the foam hydraulic compactor is to reduce the volume of foam containers through hydraulic pressure without heating, which greatly saves costs such as electricity bills. In addition to polystyrene waste, this machine can also process foam dust, PU, EPP and other foams. These foam blocks can be sold to local recycling companies or INTCO Recycling for processing into foam particles, which are the raw materials for recycled products. Through processes such as compaction, granulation and reuse, foam container recycling is realized in a pollution-free and circular manner, which has both environmental and economic benefits.
By following the Waste Wizard’s recommendations, UNC Charlotte can properly dispose of recyclable materials such as foam and cardboard, which ultimately creates a more sustainable local economy and promotes recycling. INTCO Recycling is also happy to work with governments, businesses, schools and communities who want to carry out foam container recycling to divert waste polystyrene from landfills and reuse it.
