Waste Recycling Project from BGC Facilitates EPS Collecting and Recycling
Even if a small step in sustainable development will influence the whole global circular economy greatly. To better realize the construction of a “green city”, Bonifacio Global City decides to carry out a waste recycling project.
It’s actually an app-and-cashback-based waste recycling program. How does this recycling project work? BGC has collaborated with the City of Taguig, BEST, and Bxtra to design an app named BXTRA CLIENT APP. Residents can drop off their recyclable waste into designated recycling sites to get an environmental point (EP), which can be used in the app to purchase their weekly vegetables at Luntian Express. Except for vegetables, EP can also purchase other commodities at Rackshack, Pooch Park these stores. Even they can convert their EPs into Lazada wallet credits.
The recycling program was widely acclaimed as soon as it was launched. Because it greatly encourages residents' enthusiasm for recycling and can effectively promote waste management. Moreover, residents also learned in the process that many materials that were previously considered non-recyclable are actually recyclable. Such as EPS, usually used to be insulators or packaging and even construction material, is recyclable through EPS recycling machines.
EPS recycling is not a completely fresh industry, but residents know little about it. This project makes them realize that there remains such a lot of EPS that can be well recycled instead of landfilling or burning. Focused on decreasing EPS’ s volume, an EPS densifier has been invented. Once EPS waste is thrown into an EPS densifier, it will be cut into small debris and then melted into ingots. The bulk of dealt EPS ingots has been reduced a lot. The specific compression ratio depends on the different company that provides EPS densifier. For instance, INTCO Recycling is able to provide an GREENMAX EPS densifier with a 90:1 compression ratio.
Whatever, BGC’s Bins & Buckets has indeed brought new changes in waste recycling and environmental development. BGC has been putting forward green initiatives at the local level. BGC's continuous efforts allow us to see their contribution to sustainable development. This project makes it easier for citizens to take a step forward, greatly promotes waste recycling, and expands the coverage of EPS recycling. For those who want to practice environmental protection but have not yet taken measures, BGC's recycling project Bins & Buckets is the best example.
